About Us

A Bit of History...

When the City outgrew the circa 1929 city hall, the new Brea Civic and Cultural Center was built and opened in 1980 at 1 Civic Center Circle, off Birch Street. The old building sat empty for some time, but when the old Boy Scout House in Arovista Park was torn down, Scouts needed a new home, and the Brea Lions came to their rescue by preserving the former city hall for use as the Brea Lions Scout Center.

While the building is owned by the City of Brea, it is leased to the Brea Lions Scout Center Foundation. The Foundation is not affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America or the Girl Scouts of the USA, and receive no funding from those organizations.

Brea Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts have priority room use in the Center at no cost. Rooms are also rented for corporate, club and private meetings, parties, events, after-school programs and church services. Rental fees help fund the building's upkeep and maintenance funded by the Foundation. The Brea Lions, Scouts and community members raised funds for the restoration and renovation of the old city hall into a thriving center that will always remain rent-free for Brea Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

Funds were raised through generous donations from individuals, service clubs, corporations, live auctions televised on the city cable station, and pledges of building supplies and City funds.

A lot of blood, sweat and probably a few tears went into the renovation, and the result is a great place to meet, learn, thrive and have fun. Please check out the renovation page.
